Ingrid: Minecraft-style game that visualizes the electricity consumption of buildings.

Ingrid is a mobile game that makes electricity use visible: the player's home is replicated in an isometric 3D world where every appliance has a real-time cost.

What it does

  • Virtual replica of the home in isometric 3D
  • Cost of each appliance calculated from the local tariff
  • Accumulated spending played as a quest
  • Automated iOS and Android builds

The challenge

Electricity is abstract: wall meters and PDF bills do not create awareness. Kilowatt-hours had to become coins and resources inside an engaging environment.

What we built

We built an isometric experience in Unity: when the player uses virtual appliances such as the TV or the fridge, the game calculates the real cost from the local tariff and shows the accumulated spend as a quest. Codemagic automates the iOS and Android builds.

Technology

  • Unity
  • C#
  • Codemagic
